907 Tahoe BlvdAs good as it gets! The lamb was perfect, the sauce divine. We also had the sole (same perfection). Wine list is great and the service (along with the recommendations), spot on. The soup was just a tad bland...but you could tell everything was ultra fresh. Veggies were a little crisp -- but I like them like that~
Went for happy hour but discovered all the tables were tall and my elderly mother could not climb into the chairs....so we sat in the dining area. At first we were told we could not get the happy hour prices in the dining room, but when I noted the disability issue, the manager agreed to let us have the discount. So, food, service and just good solid folks give this a 5 star rating for me.
I've been to Bite several times since it opened, and I have always been impressed by the atmosphere, the drink selection and the food. The owners are all really cool, and they have some great bartenders.
On the weekdays, Bite is a classy and romantic spot to take a date for some nice drinks and tasty small plates. I'm not sure which nights they do it, but the last time I went there with a friend on a Monday, they were having a 10PM-12AM happy hour!
On the weekends, Bite is a great place to start the night with some good drinks before inevitably descending the ladder of decency and ending up at Rookies, Pub, or Paddle Wheel.
This place was a much needed recent addition to Incline Village. I was thrilled when we got a tapas bar (aka small plates or apps) Great place to go out with friends or family. Order a bunch of sides, sliders, etc. and share. Yum! And their drinks are good too. More "hip" place to go than you will find anywhere else in Incline.
Much needed addition to Incline, and you can barely recognize Grumpy's, the previous bar, which is a very good thing. Food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Nice wine list.
Bite describes itself as "American Tapas".
It clearly is a "hip" place among the locals and the tourists "in the know".
We had a light dinner and were able to get in an out quickly. Given the large parties that were in the dining room and the fact that they do not take reservations for groups smaller than 6, I suspect that were were able to get a table (and thus get in and out quickly) because we arrived at 6pm. I would not be surprised if a different combination of later dinner and heavier weekend (we were mid-May), might have added up to a long wait.
We split a Chinese Chicken Salad that had slightly too much dressing but was otherwise perfect. The size was just right for two (not too much and not too little). The combinations of tastes (including cashews, Mandarin Orange chunks, other delights) was well balanced and not too overwhelming.
We also split two of their "slider" dishes -- Ahi Tuna and Philly Cheese-steak. Both were well made and appropriately proportioned for a "tapas-style" dish. The Ahi was sushi-grade, seared perfectly and served with arugula (or "rocket"). The taste was wonderful (and simple). I can only find disappointment in the plain-white hamburger bun that it was served in. Of course, this was billed as a "slider" so there really can't be much fault in their choice.
There is nothing much to say about the Philly Cheese-steak slider...it was exactly what you would expect from a dish bearing that name.
The one thing that stuck out was the service. It was attentive without being intrusive. They were busy, yet our water glasses never got less than 1/4 full. The hostess did not "hang out" at the hostess stand but rather ran "pseudo-waitress" through the dining room -- offering any additions (e.g., drink refills, check) that seemed needed.
Overall it was a really good experience. 4 stars in our book.

Wow! Finally a great restaurant in the Incline Village area! This is a very different type of restaurant that's been in the N. Shore area for the 30 years I've been coming here with family/friends to get away.
This is a nice, new Tapas (or small plates) style restaurant. There is quite a nice selection of plates for everyone to choose from. I went with my Bro and Sister and we ordered the following 6 dishes: crab cakes, prawns, grilled lamb chops, duck leg confit (a special for the evening), ahi sliders, and Shepherd's pie. I know, I know - a very strange mix, but it's really reflective of the type of variety on the menu.
The crab cakes were very good and the tarragon sauce accompanying the dish was not overpowering - light, slightly crispy and a good amount of crab. The prawns were also very good, with a nice citrus based glaze and were cooked just right (I am very picky about the doneness and the texture of my shrimp). The lamb chops were simply excellent. Lolly-pop style chops that were grilled perfectly - and no gaminess either. Once of the best lamb dishes I have eaten - anywhere. More please? Yes! The place is known for quite a wide variety of sliders and we ordered the Ahi sliders on the recommendation of the waiter - they were excellent. Sushi grade Ahi served up on a bun (my only complaint is that I would have preferred a bakery or home style slider bun here). The Shepherd's pie was VERY different. According to the waiter, this is the chef's home recipe and while it had the typical meat, peas, potatoes, etc - it also contained some very nice curry with a little bite. I've never had a Shepherd's pie like this, but it was very good. It would be perfect as comfort food after a long day skiing in the winter at Diamond Peak. The only disappointing dish was the duck leg confit. The duck was very nice and perfectly cooked, but the curry base sauce (while tasty and spicy) was too overpowering for the dish. Most people would probably not know it was duck they were eating because the sauce drowned it out considerably.
For dessert we ordered 2 dishes: the apple turnovers and the chocolate cake. The turnovers were amazing - 4 bite sized mini pastries filled with cinnamon and apple, cooked to perfect light crispiness and drizzled in a caramel sauce. OMG! They were served quite warm, fresh, and were absolutely delicious. The chocolate cake was also very good. There were four medium bites of moist dark chocolate cake (but not bitter) with chocolate frosting and drizzled with a wonderful vanilla cream. They reminded me of Hostess Cupcakes in appearance. They were very good - and very gone - quickly!
The rest: The service from both the hostess and our waiter was very attentive but not intrusive. They are very laid back but also quite professional. They are smart and leave small water pitchers on the table - and honestly, who doesn't love Tahoe tap??? The interior has both a bar area and a small dining room. We ate in the dining room but both are very comfortable.
For the drinkers: a full bar and simple but eclectic wine list with many tastes to choose from as well as glass and bottle. Nothing over-the-top expensive here which is nice.
Prices: Average for a Tapas restaurant. More pricey then maybe the typical sit-down restaurant, but well worth it in terms of food quality, freshness of ingredients, preparation and plate appearance and the variety on the menu. It may be Tapas, but they do not shortchange you on the portions. 6 plates was more than enough for the three of us. Your waiter will also guide you on portion size.
Ice Tea Rating: 4 out of 5. A nice dark blend of actual brewed tea and always kept filled - which is important. I am an iced tea snob you know ;-)
Overall: 4 out of 5. You would be hard pressed to find a better meal for the value anywhere in the North Lake Tahoe area. Very good! And I will be back!!!

YUM! Sit at the bar and do happy hour, cheap and good. Service is always very good. One problem is the chef will not change a thing if you want to order something with a different sauce, etc. Compromises the integrity of the kitchen. Who is eating and paying for this meal anyway. A great selection of wines by glass, carafe or bottle.
Went to Bite for dinner over the July 4th weekend. The place was busy, so we sat at the bar. We ordered the "pitcher" of sangria and were suprised when a small carafe was served to us which poured out exactly 2 glasses. Me and my partner are sangria connoisseurs, and whatever it was that we were served would not qualify as sangria. It tasted like straight pineapple juice with a little cucumber infusion of some sort. I am confident there was not one drop of wine in it. Since the sangria was lame, my partner ordered a mojito and the bartender asked if he would like it with bacardi. He said yes to the bacardi, but the bartender served it to him and announced that he made it with meyers dark rum instead. We ordered 4 tapas, and three arrived in a timely manner, then we sat around for over a half hour for our order of chicken sliders which we ended up canceling. The tapas we did eat (gazpacho, eggplant rolatini, and a salad) were decent, nothing to write home about, as they were slightly underseasoned. Overall, the food was average, the service was bad/weird, and the sangria was horrible. Hopefully, they get their act together, because the place has potential, but based on our experience it needs a lot of improvement to be considered a good restaurant.
